Warm up - We read an article in Science World magazine on a massive Algal Bloom. We added two vocabulary words on page 87 in your ntoebooks today. We drew two boxes, one for permeable and one for impermeable. Next we went over the Zones in the Ocean (intertidal, neretic, and oceanic). We took notes on the different zones on page 88 in our notebooks. If you were not here, here is the powerpoint from today. On page 88 in our notebook we added a couple of vocabulary words (hydrothermal, phyoplankton, upwelling) If you were absent, here are the words to add. Today, you were given the Science EOG packet. Read it well and annotate. If you know this packet you will do great!!! I expect great things from you guys. DO NOT LOSE THIS PACKET!!!! Any chance you get, you should be reading it. When you are bored on the bus..read the booklet. When you can't sleep at night...read the booklet. When you are grounded because you play to many video games and watch too much youtube...read the booklet.

We are going to start review with Chemistry. We will still be doing a little hydrology aand you will have a take home Hydrology test next week. Today we read an article for our warm up about the Dangers of DHMO!!! It is shocking how often you come in contact with DHMO!! Then, we reviewed the River Basin Assignment and reviewed specific questions about aquifers, river basins and estuaries. Here are the notes for page 83. Next we went over some common causes and problems of water pollution in North Carolina. What you will realize is that most of the problems come down to too much excess nutrients we are adding to our water. If you were not here, you will need to get the handout from me and take a look at the powerpoint to fill in the answers. This handout goes on page 85 in your notebook. Lastly, we moved away from the fresh water and moved into the salt water. The last assignment of the day was on Ocean ecosystems. Title page : Ocean Ecosystems...86 We will be using the blue handouts in the classroom to complete the 4 stations on Ocean Ecosystems. The blue handouts in class, will be in the back of the room. You will need the links below to access what you need for Stations 3 and 4. Answer using complete sentences.
